| Top Tips For Actor CVs |
If
you're looking to get more work within the field of acting, then it
is a good idea to keep your CV up to date. Actor CVs aren't
the same as most CVs, and there are a few things that you
should keep in mind when writing yours, in order to make sure
it is as effective as possible.
Of
course, like most CVs, you will want to make sure that all your key
information and contact details are clearly visible on the top of your
CV. After this, you will want to make sure than you have included the
names of any actors unions that you are a part of, such as ACTRA in
Canada, as well as spell out which agency you belong to
(include the agency and/or agent name and contact information)..
Next,
you will want to list your work history. Again, this is most likely to
be different than that of non-acting CVs. For
instance, instead of include all the jobs you've had in your life, you
should only include work that is relevant to your
acting portfolio. For example, if you have worked as a member
of the technical team on a website like http://es.partypoker.com, then
you won't want to include that information. However, if you have
appeared in one of their TV commercials, then that is
something you will want to include. If you have
worked within a variety of different mediums--TV, radio, theatre, even
webinars--then you'll want to break up that information into
separate sections. Spell out the name of the production or commercial,
your role, and when it was produced. You can even include air dates.
USE SUBHEADS
In a separate section (use subheads to divide your sections), you will
also want to list the training and qualifications you have.
Here you will want to mention all the formal acting qualifications you
have and training that you have taken or classes
that you have attended. This may include in any audition,
acting, dance or voice training you may have had. Don't
forget that you will also want to include any skills which you possess,
such as the ability to speak in various accents, or take part in stage
combat.
Don't
forget that, as an actor, casting agents will also be interested in
what you look like. Therefore, it is a good idea to include a
professional head-shot and a section that includes details about your
physical appearance--such as height, weight, hair and eye
colour.
